Our client, a reputable and expanding insurance provider based in Malta, is seeking a dedicated Actuarial / Statistician to join their team.  The Statistician / Actuary will support the Company in the preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial and regulatory information, with particular focus on Solvency II reporting and regulatory accounting. The role requires strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, together with an understanding of insurance business, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Risk, and other functions to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timely delivery of regulatory information.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of Solvency II regulatory reporting.
  • Support the production, validation, and reconciliation of quantitative and financial regulatory data.
  • Analyse insurance, financial, and statistical data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks.
  • Assist with the calculation, analysis, and validation of insurance-related financial information and technical provisions, where applicable.
  • Support the preparation of regulatory and management reports.
  • Perform data quality checks, reconciliations, and reasonableness assessments.
  • Work closely with Accountants, Risk Officers, Actuarial, Finance, and Compliance teams.
  • Assist with the Company's Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and related quantitative analysis.
  • Support stress testing, scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, and other quantitative risk assessments.
  • Assist with regulatory accounting analysis and the interpretation of relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain analytical models, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting processes, and automation.
  • Keep up to date with developments in Solvency II, insurance regulation, actuarial practices, and financial reporting.
  • Provide analytical support for internal and external audits and regulatory reviews.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
 
Actuarial candidate:
  • Qualified Actuary or actuarial student making substantial progress towards qualification.
  • Strong understanding of actuarial principles and insurance mathematics.
  • Experience in insurance, particularly in regulatory reporting, is highly desirable.
Statistician candidate:
  • Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Actuarial Science, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Strong statistical and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience working with financial, insurance, or regulatory data is desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Good understanding of financial and/or insurance concepts.
  • Knowledge of Solvency II is considered a significant advantage.
  • Experience with statistical, actuarial, financial, or data-analysis software is desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, R, or similar analytical tools would be an advantage.
  • Ability to interpret complex information and present findings clearly.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet regulatory deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with Finance, Risk, Actuarial, and other business functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience in insurance, actuarial work, regulatory reporting, regulatory accounting, or financial services will be considered an important asset. Candidates with strong quantitative qualifications but limited insurance experience may also be considered, depending on their technical capabilities.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
  • €40,000 - €60,000 Gross Per Annum
  • Salary will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and skills. The advertised salary range is indicative, any offer will reflect the successful candidate’s suitability
