A prestigious hospitality and real estate group are working with GRS to recruit a Boatyard Supervisor, for their Limassol operation. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assume responsibility for the highest standards of the site repair/maintenance, cleanliness, hygiene, presentation, and employees’ service in accordance with F&S Marina’s standards.
  • Assume responsibility for implementation of the daily operations schedule as agreed with the Marina Management, assigning, and supervising the work of Marina Attendants on duty as required and ensuring completion of all routine inspections and tasks.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct, ethics, and integrity in all the marina operations.
  • Ensure compliance with the Marina’s applicable Terms and Conditions for customers, contractors, and suppliers in all applicable areas of the facility.
  • Build and maintain a healthy and professional relationship with the marina guests and residents, follow-up with Marina Attendants and Marina Reception staff accordingly.
  • Manage implementation of the Marina’s Annual Maintenance Plan, ensuring all checks and inspections (inc. underwater), routine maintenance and servicing and respective record keeping are completed on time and, where possible, carried out by marina employees.
  • Assist as requested by the Marina Management and the Senior Accountant, in the keeping of records relating to finances and general records of the marina, (such as the preparation and monitoring of the operational plans, cash sales, banking, and reconciliation of all relevant day-to-day marina records.)
  • Ensure that the marina and boat yard operations are in full compliance with the health and safety legislation, the Company’s health and safety policy and guidelines, and all safe operating procedures including all other statutory requirements relating to fire, navigation, lifesaving, chemicals, lifting, and plant equipment – seeing that others also comply. Contribute as directed to the implementation of the Marina’s Staff Training Plan, conducting employee inductions, internal training, and organization of external training courses. Monitor and evaluate employee performance and development according to company policy.
  • Assist owners and crews with yacht berthing, especially when weather/tide conditions are unfavorable, including towing and line work with the marina workboat, car-parking, and baggage handling.
  • Assume responsibility for safe operation of the Marina’s Fuel Station facility following all relevant procedures and enforcing all marina rules.
  • Assume responsibility for safe operation of boat handling equipment and boatyard operations (e.g. boat hoist, trailer, and forklift) operate high pressure cleaner, block, and stand yachts.
  • Assist with berth and boatyard bookings as required, allocating berths, issuing berthing licenses and invoices, receiving payments (including cash) and issuing receipts.
  • Ensure that the boats in the marina are always properly and sufficiently moored and protected with fenders, and that neither mooring line, electricity cables, boat overhangs or any other item causes a hazard on the pontoons or quays.
  • Monitor the cleaning of buildings including customer washrooms, pontoons, quays, the marina site and workplaces, in order to maintain a high standard of hygiene and appearance. Intervene when required to maintain this standard if the cleaners are not on duty.
  • Participate as directed in the promotion of the marina.
  • Comply with the guidelines and procedures as set out in the Marina’s Integrated Management System (IMS) and all other company policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the marina regulations regarding dress and expected behavior, reflecting consistently company brand standards whilst offering a personalised service to all internal and external customers.
  • Carry out all other duties for the smooth running of the marina and boatyard and assist the marina staff in such matters as may be reasonably required.
  • Allocate work to direct reports, and in liaison with the Marina Management identify employees for training as per the organizations’ guidelines and conduct job performance reviews to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Supervise direct reports in their day-to-day tasks and guide them in managing their performance by providing appropriate feedback and counseling.
  • Ensure that all Marina employees comply with the Marina’s Health & Safety policy as well as all applicable Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ensure that all the employees comply with the marina regulations regarding dress and expected behavior whilst reflecting consistently company brand standards.
  • In liaison with the Marina Management ensure the smooth implementation of any disciplinary measure taken against an employee.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Educated to University/College level.
  • In possession of college-level diploma/leaving certificate as well as relevant maritime training or qualifications.
  • About 5 years’ experience in nautical/marine sector – previous marina experience is desirable.
  • Hospitality-related work experience is desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificate or permits beneficial to the marina, including medical certification.
  • A good general and working knowledge of marina related operations including boat lifting, boat handling and towing, rope work, plant, and equipment maintenance.
  • Proven skills in basic office administration, basic accounting and report functions, book-keeping and cash handling procedures.
  • Proven skills in VHF communication, first-aid and fire-fighting procedures.
  • Proficiency in swimming and in possession of a valid driving license.
  • In possession of a certificate of training for operating small speedboats from a recognized national or international body
  • In possession of a certificate of training for SCUBA diving from a recognized international body
  • Greek Language considered an advantage
