A leading Forex Brokerage firm is looking for an experienced Compliance Officer to join their team in Malta. The selected candidate will work together with Management and amongst others will be mainly responsible for Regulatory and Supervisory laws, rules and regulations particularly MiFID II and CRD IV together with AML. The ideal candidate will have a legal degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the legal and compliance within the financial services industry within a Category 3 Forex Entity. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Keep abreast of new Regulatory, Supervisory, Reporting and AML Regulations, Sanction alerts, developing trends and updating Management accordingly.
  • Liaise with relevant regulatory and supervisory authorities on compliance matters and ensure adherence thereto by the Company.
  • Ensure that management and staff are kept updated with new reporting requirements as required by regulatory and supervisory authorities.
  • Ensure that filing and submission of reports are made within specified deadlines.
  • Monitors, and as necessary, coordinates compliance activities of other departments to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities and to identify trends.
  • Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  • Provides reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the Board of Directors and Senior Management informed of the operation and progress of Compliance efforts.
  • Keep the Company’s Compliance and other registers up to date 
  • Assess the process of on-boarding of new clients, including the verification of documents
  • Assess clients and transactions for potential money laundering and/or terrorism financing risks
  • Assist in the monitoring and updating of client records
  • Establishing and implementing controls and/or procedures in order to prevent money laundering
  • Ensuring the Company is compliant to its AML policies and procedures
  • Process requests received from the FIAU, the Police and the Compliance Executive
  • Assist the MLRO and HR Manager in the development and delivery of internal training programs and the retention of detailed training records.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • University Law Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the legal and compliance within the financial services industry within a Category 3 Forex Entity
  • Passionate team player with a growth mind-set
  • An in-depth knowledge of the financial services regulatory and supervisory framework and its applicable legal requirements
  • Fluency in Maltese and English
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex requirements concisely
  • Strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Good eye for detail
  • Team worker
  • Enjoys working within a multicultural environment
  • Previously approved PQ as a Compliance Officer will be an advantage
