A leading international marine insurance company providing P&I, FD&D and War Risks cover to their international membership, are working with GRS to recruit a Data-Automation Engineer for their Limassol operation. The successful candidate will have strong experience in backend engineering, API development, SQL and data automation, with experience in DevOps, CI/CD and enterprise system integrations. Experience with PHP/Symfony, Microsoft Power Platform or insurance policy administration systems would be advantageous.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a growing international organisation and play a key role in developing the automation, data-processing and integration capabilities that support business-critical systems and internal tools.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, develop and maintain backend automation services and workflow automations supporting due diligence, policy administration and wider business processes.

Develop and maintain APIs and integration services, including the policy administration abstraction/API layer, ensuring reliability, stability and appropriate versioning.

Integrate internal and external enterprise systems through REST APIs and other integration technologies.

Develop asynchronous and queue-based processing for long-running or high-volume tasks, including appropriate handling of retries and failures.

Build robust data-cleaning, validation and transformation pipelines for policy administration and due diligence data.

Develop validation rules, mismatch detection and fault-tolerant batch processing to ensure data quality and integrity.

Support the implementation of Copilot Studio actions/plugins and custom connectors against defined API contracts.

Design and maintain automated unit, integration, contract and performance testing for backend services, APIs and data-processing pipelines.

Build test fixtures, stubs and datasets to simulate high-volume processing, retries, idempotency and upstream/downstream failures.

Implement structured logging, metrics, tracing and alerting across services, APIs, jobs and queues to support effective monitoring and troubleshooting.

Maintain CI/CD pipelines, environment-specific configuration and secure credential management, including Azure Key Vault.

Support automated deployment processes and ensure backend components meet agreed quality and versioning standards before release.

Produce and maintain clear technical documentation covering APIs, workflow logic, validation rules and operational procedures.

Work closely with business analysts, architects and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver reliable, maintainable solutions.

Provide clear explanations of technical concepts and solutions to colleagues and stakeholders without a technical background.
CANDIDATE PROFILE

Strong professional experience in backend engineering, with PHP/Symfony or an equivalent backend technology such as Python, C#/.NET, Java or Node.js.

Strong experience in API development and enterprise system integration, particularly REST APIs.

Solid SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.

Practical experience developing data-processing, data-validation or data-transformation pipelines.

Good understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, containerisation and automated deployments.

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or similar containerisation technologies would be beneficial.
-
Experience with asynchronous processing, queues, retries and idempotent workflows would be advantageous.

Experience working with Microsoft technologies such as Azure, Power Automate, Logic Apps or Copilot Studio would be highly advantageous.

Experience with Copilot Studio actions/plugins, custom connectors or Power Platform would be an advantage.

Experience with insurance policy administration platforms such as Paris, Noria or similar systems would be highly beneficial.

Previous experience within insurance, financial services, maritime or other data-intensive environments would be advantageous.

Experience developing observability solutions using structured logging, metrics, tracing and alerting would be beneficial.

Experience working with CSV, XLSX, JSON and other structured data formats.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify data issues, edge cases and potential failures.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

€55,000 - €65,000 Gross Per Annum
