Our client a leading pharmaceutical company providing consultancy services is looking for a Deputy Pharmacist. The employee will be responsible for supporting the Managing Pharmacist in overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy. This role involves assisting with staff supervision, dispensing medications, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing customer service. The Deputy Pharmacist acts as the second-in-command and assumes full responsibilities in the absence of the Managing Pharmacist. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Managing Pharmacist in overseeing daily pharmacy operations.
  • Support in implementing policies and procedures to improve pharmacy services.
  • Provide backup and assume duties of the Managing Pharmacist as needed.
  • Help supervise pharmacy staff and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Assist in training new employees and updating current staff on protocols and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced pharmacists, technicians and sales assistants.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards under the guidance of the Managing Pharmacist.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist in preparing for audits and inspections.
  • Stay updated with changes in pharmaceutical laws and best practices.
  • Provide expert advice on medication use, side effects, and interactions.
  • Accurately dispense medications and counsel patients on the proper use, dosage, and potential side effects.
  • Verify prescriptions and ensure their compliance with legal and professional standards.
  • Assist the Managing Pharmacist is administering the dispensing of POYC (Pharmacy of Your Choice) services and efficiently manage all related requests.
  • Assist in managing the ordering, stocking, and storage of medications and supplies.
  • Help conduct regular inventory audits and manage expired stock appropriately.
  • Ensure inventory levels are maintained to meet customer needs.
  • Provide high-quality customer service and address customer requests and complaints.
  • Ensure a positive customer experience and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Engage with customers to provide health advice and promote pharmacy services.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of pharmacy products and services.
  • Advise customers on over-the-counter medications, health and beauty products, and other pharmacy items.
  • Stay updated on new products and industry trends.
  • Arrange and display products to promote sales and enhance the customer experience.
  • Implement merchandising plans and promotional displays as directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Operate the cash register and handle cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately.
  • Process sales efficiently and ensure that all transactions are recorded correctly.
  • Promote pharmacy products and special offers to customers.
  • Ensure that all necessary efforts are made to achieve the established targets for the pharmacy.
  • Ensure that all clinics are clean, clear and equipped.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Must be a qualified and registered pharmacist in Malta
