On behalf of our client, a well-established international company specializing in Private Equity, Asset Management & Funds Administration GRS are seeking to recruit a Direct Tax Officer to join their expanding team in Malta. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or in the process of studying for their ACCA certification. You will assist clients with the process of tax registration and have a good understanding of the Maltese Income Tax System. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assisting corporate and individual clients with the process of tax registration
  • Preparation of income tax returns of both local and international corporate clients
  • Reviewing income tax computations prepared internally by the accounting teams
  • Preparation of tax refund claim forms and shareholder registration forms of corporate clients
  • Managing statutory filings with the Commission for Revenue on behalf of clients
  • Advising and assisting both local and international clients to comply with their tax compliance obligations
  • Keeping abreast with direct tax developments
  • Assistance in the preparation of share transfer documentation in accordance with local legislation such as Income Tax and Stamp Duty
  • Liaising with the relevant income tax departments on any assistance / queries on a case-by-case basis
  • Assist the accounting teams with any tax queries on a case-by-case basis
  • Preparations and Delivery of Direct Tax training to the internal accounting teams 
  • Assist with the preparation of tax reports and tax projects as required
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and / or relevant accounting experience
  • ACCA or equivalent certification would be appreciated (we will support continuation of studies if part qualified)
  • A good knowledge of the Maltese Income Tax System
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Strong motivation to work in a challenging and dynamic environment
  • Possess and flexible and hand-on approach
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines under pressure, while maintaining close attention to detail
  • Be well organized and have good planning skills
  • Analytical with good problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under own initiative
  • Team player with a positive ‘can do attitude’
