Our client, a leading pharmaceutical company based in Nicosia, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Finance to join their dynamic team. The Director of Finance plays a critical role in steering the financial direction of the company, ensuring that strategic and operational objectives related to the manufacturing and commercialization of branded generics are achieved. Acting as a key business partner to the executive team and Board of Directors, you will lead financial planning, reporting, control, and compliance, while driving performance, transparency, and sustainable growth across the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Take full ownership of the company’s financial strategy, aligning financial management with corporate objectives and long-term growth plans.

Provide financial leadership and insight to support strategic decisions, including product launches, manufacturing expansion, and capital investments.

Prepare and present accurate monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS to the Board of Directors.

Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs), translating data into actionable business insights.

Lead monthly and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.

Conduct detailed variance analysis against budget and forecasts, proactively identifying risks and opportunities.

Oversee cost accounting processes, including raw materials, labour, overhead allocations, and GMP-related cost tracking.

Ensure accurate inventory valuation and reconciliation across production, warehouse, and ERP systems.

Collaborate closely with procurement, production, and commercial teams to drive cost optimization and margin improvement initiatives.

Ensure full compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and pharmaceutical industry requirements.

Develop and strengthen internal control systems to safeguard company assets and mitigate risk.

Coordinate effectively with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and tax authorities. Manage liquidity, cash flow forecasting, and banking relationships to ensure financial stability.

Oversee timely preparation and submission of VAT, corporate tax, and all statutory filings.

Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, setting clear objectives and fostering a high-performance culture.

Provide financial analysis and business cases for new product launches and capital expenditure projects.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial efficiency, reporting quality, and organizational performance.
CANDIDATE PROFILE

Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) is mandatory.

Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in finance leadership roles, ideally within pharmaceutical industry or a regulated environment.

Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax compliance, and cost accounting principles.

Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.

Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex financial data into strategic insight.

High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

High level of trustworthiness and discretion when handling sensitive financial, commercial, and strategic information.

Strong digital and systems literacy (ERP, advanced Excel, BI tools).
