JOB DESCRIPTION

Ref#10878

GRS Recruitment is partnering with an innovative organisation in Limassol to appoint a Director of Technology to lead a complex, business-critical technology agenda. This role goes beyond oversight. You will take ownership of delivery, drive alignment between Product and Engineering, and establish the structure, standards, and operating rhythm needed to scale effectively. With a three-year platform delivery roadmap, an expanding ODC, and legacy systems to transition, you will be at the centre of both challenge and opportunity. Success in this role means bringing clarity to complexity, accelerating execution, and making confident decisions across architecture, platforms, and delivery. If you are a hands-on technology leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and knows how to turn strategy into tangible outcomes, this is your opportunity to shape a modern, scalable technology function from the ground up.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Define and lead the technology strategy, innovation roadmap, and architectural vision for the core platform, aligned with product outcomes and delivery milestones over a three-year horizon.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and assess their practical application.
  • Drive innovation initiatives from concept through to production, focusing on speed-to-value, scalability, and measurable impact.
  • Establish and lead architecture and platform governance capabilities to ensure consistency across teams and delivery partners.
  • Translate technology trends into actionable roadmap inputs and engineering standards.
  • Take full ownership of delivering the flagship platform within a three-year timeframe.
  • Scale and stabilise the ODC, ensuring alignment with internal engineering standards and practices.
  • Establish low-code platforms as the primary development approach for product delivery.
  • Ensure all teams operate within a defined SDLC, embedding strong engineering discipline.
  • Partner closely with Product to align roadmap, priorities, and delivery cadence.
  • Lead the transition from legacy systems, including phased migration, parallel operations, and structured decommissioning.
  • Oversee Enterprise Architecture, including standards, governance forums, and decision records.
  • Govern Data & Analytics as a shared capability, including data models, quality, BI, and AI/ML roadmap.
  • Lead Platform & Integration services, including cloud infrastructure, low-code environments, DevOps pipelines, API management, and developer tooling.
  • Build and lead a high-performing technology organisation, fostering accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop career pathways and technical excellence programmes to attract and retain top talent.
  • Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and psychological safety across teams.
  • Mentor and develop senior engineers and architects into future leaders.
  • Act as the primary technology voice at executive and board level, translating technical strategy into business value.
  • Represent the organisation in external forums, industry bodies, and governance groups.
  • Build strong relationships with technology vendors, delivery partners, and innovation ecosystems.
CANDIDATE PROFILE

Required Experience
  • Extensive experience in progressive technology leadership, including experience in a senior role (e.g. Director of Technology, CTO, VP Engineering).
  • Proven experience delivering technology products from concept to market within defined timelines.
  • Strong background in Agile and DevOps within product-led or SaaS/PaaS environments.
  • Deep architectural expertise across cloud, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Experience managing offshore or nearshore delivery models, ideally under a BOT structure.
  • Familiarity with low-code or rapid application platforms
  • Proven experience managing legacy system transitions in live environments.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex industry domains.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to link technology decisions to business outcomes.
Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to maritime or similar industrial technology environments.
  • Experience with AI/ML-enabled products.
  • Experience reporting at board level and operating within matrix organisations.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks or industry standards.
