An international company with offices in Cyprus is working with GRS Recruitment to hire a Global Head of Health, Safety & Environmental Reporting. The successful candidate’s role will be to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the company’s employees across the company. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, implement, and maintain effective health and safety programs and policies to minimize occupational hazards and promote a culture of safety within the organization. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global health and safety strategy and programs that can be adapted at a country level to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and best practices in our operational locations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments, workplace inspections, and audits to identify potential hazards and develop proactive measures to mitigate risks.  This can be done either in person or through a developed network of third-party local providers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create and deliver health and safety training programs, ensuring employees are knowledgeable about safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels to promote awareness and understanding of health and safety initiatives, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs, policies, and procedures through data analysis, incident investigations, and trend analysis, and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Lead and facilitate incident and accident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide guidance and support to local health and safety coordinators or teams across all locations, promoting consistency in health and safety practices across the organization.
  • Stay up to date with emerging health and safety regulations, trends, and best practices, and proactively incorporate them into the organization's health and safety programs.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on health and safety matters, providing guidance and advice to management and employees at all levels.
  • Act as a point of contact for ESG related queries; coordinate data capture and reporting with the relevant functions across the company.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. A relevant professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programs, preferably in a global technical or similar fast-paced environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and interpret data to identify trends, develop insights, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to foster a culture of safety and promote employee engagement in health and safety initiatives.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in using technology and software applications relevant to health and safety management.
