A Maltese financial & investment firm is looking for a Head of Compliance & MLRO to head their compliance and AML function in Malta. You will report to the Board of Directors and will need to be prepared to be MFSA approved as Compliance Officer further down the line. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of MiFid II regulations and have superb AML expertise. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure the company has proper documented standard operating procedures that are in line and comply fully with the relevant up to date regulatory requirements including, but not exclusively, the MFSA’s standard license conditions, MFSA rulebook, as well as Mifid II, MAD, MAR, SFDR, thereby helping to safeguard the company’s reputation.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual compliance reports and present it directly to the board of directors and the Risk & Compliance Committee.
  • Coordinate the completion of the BRA with the Company’s external advisors.
  • Maintain a report of breaches and present this as part of the compliance report.
  • Maintain and execute an ongoing compliance program that covers all aspects of the business.
  • Advise management and the board on new regulations
  • Submit all required reports to the MFSA and other regulators on an ongoing basis.
  • Stay updated all the company’s policies and procedures
  • Liaise with the MFSA, FIAU and other authorities on any correspondence that the firm receives in respect of its obligations to the regulators
  • Keep up to date with the latest in training in the industry.
  • Lead a compliance team that reflects the size and nature of the company’s activities
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Degree level education in appropriate subject
  • Ideally be already approved by the MFSA – or be prepared to undertake PQ
  • Excellent knowledge of MiFID regulations as well as AML
