GRS Recruitment is excited to announce a new opportunity for a Head of Custody with a prestigious legal company located in Nicosia. We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic professional to join our team as the Head of Custody at our CySEC-regulated crypto-asset services provider (CASP). This strategic role oversees the safeguarding and segregation of client assets—including crypto-assets and traditional financial instruments—in line with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), CySEC directives, and internal policies. The successful candidate will lead custody operations, ensure the implementation of best-in-class security and compliance practices, and maintain robust internal controls to uphold client asset protection and operational resilience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee custody operations including trade settlement, asset safekeeping, and reconciliation.

Safeguard client ownership rights and ensure asset segregation.

Conduct due diligence and make recommendations for third-party custodians.

Ensure custody operations comply with CySEC, MiCA, and GDPR regulations.

Implement internal controls and ensure documentation of policies and procedures.

Report on custody metrics and operational performance to senior management.

Integrate custody platforms and innovative technologies for transaction integrity.

Lead the custody team and oversee staff compliance with employment laws.

Coordinate with auditors and regulators to maintain transparency and compliance.

Maintain and monitor agreements with third-party service providers.

Provide training and professional development for the custody team.

Engage with institutional clients and address their custody requirements.

Develop and implement strategies to expand and improve custody services.
CANDIDATE PROFILE

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or related field.

Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in custody operations or financial services.

In-depth knowledge of MiCA, CySEC regulations, and digital asset custody standards.

Experience with custody platforms, third-party due diligence, and regulatory compliance.

Knowledge of MiCA, CySEC regulations, and crypto compliance best practices.

Proven leadership and team management abilities.
