GRS Recruitment is delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a Permanent Head of Infrastructure to join a reputable Shipping company located in the vibrant city of Limassol. The Head of Infrastructure & Operations is responsible for configuring, monitoring, and maintaining the organization's global network and IT environment. The role encompasses both traditional and cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security. The position also oversees the service operations function, including the management of the Level 1 Service Desk and delivering IT Outsourcing (ITO) operations, driving operational excellence and alignment with ITIL principles.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Service Operations Management
  • Lead and manage the Level 1 Service Desk team to deliver exceptional support and customer service.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Monitor service desk performance metrics, ensuring SLA adherence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee IT Outsourcing (ITO) partnerships, ensuring contractual compliance and optimal service delivery.
IT Infrastructure & Support
  • Administer, monitor, and optimize hybrid (on-premise and cloud) IT environments.
  • Lead the adoption of modern platforms and technologies, including multi-cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP) strategies.
  • Drive automation of infrastructure management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Implement monitoring tools and strategies leveraging AIOps for predictive maintenance and proactive issue resolution.
  • Provide support and strategy for modern productivity tools such as Microsoft 365 and collaboration platforms.
Network Management
  • Ensure robust and secure global network connectivity, including SD-WAN and VPN solutions.
  • Optimize network performance using software-defined networking (SDN) and advanced traffic management.
  • Continuously assess and adopt emerging networking technologies to enhance performance and security.
Server and Cloud Management
  • Oversee Windows server environments, including Active Directory and modern alternatives like Azure AD.
  • Manage scalable cloud platforms, focusing on Kubernetes, containerization, and microservices architecture.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance cloud resource utilization and costs using FinOps principles.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
  • Maintain ownership of disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Regularly test and validate recovery procedures to minimize downtime and data loss.
Data Backup and Security
  • Implement robust backup strategies leveraging modern tools (e.g., Veeam, Druva, Cohesity).
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security awareness programs.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and others as applicable.
IT Policy Implementation and Training
  • Develop and enforce IT policies to support secure and efficient operations across all locations.
  • Conduct training and workshops to upskill staff on the latest cloud and IT technologies.
Communication & Working Relationships
  • Internal: Collaborate with peer managers, country general managers, and the CTO to align IT operations with organizational goals.
  • External: Manage relationships with vendors, MSPs, and cloud service providers.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
Professional certifications
  • Cloud: Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
  • ITIL Intermediate/Expert.
  • Networking: Cisco CCNP, Aruba certification, or equivalent.
  • Security: CISSP, CISM, or equivalent.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years in IT infrastructure and operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience with modern cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid environments.
  • Strong background in managing outsourced IT services and support functions.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced expertise in virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong scripting capabilities (PowerShell, Python, or Bash) for automation.
  • Familiarity with AIOps, observability platforms (Datadog, Dynatrace), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in securing and managing modern SaaS and IaaS platforms.
