On behalf of our client, a well-established and well-known Telecommunications company, GRS are recruiting a Head of Legal to join their team in Nicosia. As Head of Legal will be responsible for all members of the legal team. The successful candidate will manage a team that will handle all legal affairs related to the structure of the Company, its commercial activity, the compliance with regards to employment laws and act as the main internal point of contact for legal counsel. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as the primary legal contact for business units and corporate functions; execute and/or manage high impact or complex legal matters
  • To manage and provide guidance to the members of the legal team
  • Support the Regulatory Team to any information, applications and reports needed from regulatory bodies
  • Provide actionable advice on a wide range of issues
  • Identifies and anticipates legal and other risks
  • Drafts new policies and agreements
  • Reviews, interprets and analyzes legal information
  • Monitors business activity to ensure legal compliance, policies and standards are met, while mitigating associated risks
  • Identifies and engages appropriate stakeholders to escalate issues and drive decisions
  • The Legal Team will provide counsel and actionable advice to internal departments with regards to all legal affairs concerning employment and labor law, GDPR, commercial disputes and other affairs that may arise
  • Develop, build, establish and maintain the Company’s legal framework
  • Partners with business teams to develop policies and best practices related to legal and regulatory issues
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with Senior Management, Board of Directors and Shareholders
  • Lead and support commercial negotiations for complex agreements
  • Support strategic and transformational projects
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Law degree from an accredited Law school
  • Knowledge of Cyprus and EU legislation
  • 8+ Years corporate / commercial legal experience as part of a large corporate or private practice firm. Expertise in commercial, data protection and labour law as a core competence.
  • At least four years of managerial experience
  • Demonstrated fluency in Greek and English (verbal and written)
  • Experience in telecommunications is considered an advantage
  • A strategic thinker with leadership qualities
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and handle a heavy workload with multiple priorities and deadlines in a changing and complex environment.
  • Able to translate complex legal issues into actionable outcomes
