A leading Bank / EMI is searching for a Head of Payments to join their team in Europe. You will report to the CFO and work closely with senior management in being responsible for building and managing relationships with banking, payments and other financial services partners, as well as partnering with internal Product, Technology and Compliance teams to enable financial services products and services for our customers. The perfect fit will have 10 years’ experience in related sales and partner management experience in the banking or payments industry. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, plan and execute the company’s banking, payments and financial services strategy, including identifying the products and services capabilities, key markets and partnerships to increase revenue, market share and penetration
  • Provide ongoing competitive analyses, including market insights and trends, industry benchmarking and potential business opportunities., while keeping up to date with market and industry developments related to embedded finance, including the ongoing mapping of the embedded finance ecosystem
  • Identify risks, opportunities and tradeoffs, whilst balancing opportunity materiality, cost, complexity, regulatory environment and time to market. Recommend solutions and strategies to defend against competitive threats
  • Collaborate with Product, Technology, Compliance, Finance and Marketing to deliver products and services, develop go-to-market strategies and ensure product offering and commercial position are clear, relevant, optimized and highly competitively
  • Strategic Partnerships, Alliances & Engagements
  • Identify, engage and partner with key players in the global banking and payment’s environment; negotiate & structure strategic partnerships that enable accelerated scale, access, expansion and time to revenue
  • Plan and coordinate proposals, including RFPs as well as targeted proposal, for engaging with partnerships with financial institutions whether for the provision of financial services or for the purposes of enhancing distribution or access to target markets
  • Manage engagements through from prospect to partner, managing key deliverables from deal execution, contract negotiation and internal executive stakeholder management
  • Ensure that the economics of commercial deals are competitive and enable growth and scalability with financial efficiency
  • Stakeholder Management and Leadership Skills
  • Manage, partner and influence internal stakeholders and business partners to deliver on business priorities and financial goals
  • Develop and promote a positive, inclusive culture amongst all members of staff ensuring that they are motivated to work to the maximum of their capabilities
  • When and as the business grows, recruit, train and manage employees; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance; resolve problems
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • 10+ years’ experience business experience with related sales and partner management experience in the banking or payments industry
  • Demonstrated track record of planning, managing and closing a complex, competitive sales effort and managing deals from negotiation, to closing and through delivery
  • Proven record of implementing strategic initiatives and operational decisions
  • Ability to connect the dots between strategy, product, design and technology to solve complex problems
  • Demonstrated record of digital & financial products/services delivered from idea through to commercialization for product, capability and partnership enablement
  • Proven ability to partner, communicate and manage/navigate through multiple disciplines, organizational groups and with executive management, both internally and externally with multi-national companies
  • Multi-national experience
  • Strategic thinking and thought leadership
  • Ability to work within a complex and often ambiguous environment, and to influence senior management and other relevant parties
  • Executive presence; strong written and oral communication, including large-group presentations
  • Ability to balance business priorities and work under pressure whilst adhering to tight deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills and high level of attention to detail with the ability to correlate data and trends to business drivers, whilst thinking big and leading executive messaging. Utilize data and metrics to communicate needs and opportunities with ease
  • Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible with ability to lead by influence and example
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA is a plus
