GRS Recruitment is excited to announce a new opportunity for a Permanent Head of Risk Advisory with a prominent Financial Services company located in the vibrant region of Malta. Our client is committed to delivering exceptional value in the financial sector and is now seeking an experienced professional to lead their risk advisory team. The successful candidate will help to build and lead a team of risk management specialists engaged in the provision of advisory services to both Maltese and International financial services clients. Leading risk management advisory projects, including the carrying out risk assessments, provision of outsourced risk and DPO functions, thematic reviews, gap analysis and remediation of risk policies and procedures, implementation of regulatory remediation plans and providing ongoing technical and operational assistance to Executive’s, Chief Risk Officers, and Risk functions in leading financial services companies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Heading of the risk advisory services function within the Group.

Managing the Specialized Unit within the company.

Mentoring and coaching of current and new staff of the Group specifically identified as potential contributors to the practice areas falling within risk advisory.

Leading and managing risk-related consultancy engagements, as well as engagements concerning data protection, ESG and other related areas.

Provide support to risk and regulatory related advisory projects, financial services related audits, regulatory and AML compliance and business advisory support as well as internal strategic and thematic reviews and internal project management.

Identifying new areas where risk consultancy is needed and pitching company advisory services within newer industries.

Prospecting of new potential clients and engagement with existing clients of the Group to provide additional services

Coordination of and participation in conferences in related areas.

Development of training material to be provided through the company platform and delivery of training programs to existing and new clients.

The setting up of thematic workshops for existing and potential clients.

Production of articles and material for publication that showcase the expertise available within the company.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
-
A university degree or equivalent qualification in finance, banking/financial services, business, economics, accounting, risk management or a related area.
-
A minimum of 8+ years’ experience in financial services or financial institutions.
-
Preferable, but not essential, a minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a risk management position, compliance, regulatory, internal audit or similar.

Senior Management experience within a second line of defense of a business.
-
Blend of both qualitative and quantitative experience working in financial risk assessments, particularly knowledge of stress testing, ICAAP and ILAAP (or equivalent).

Sound understanding of the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP), and MFSA guidance around aspects of banking regulation.

Strong knowledge of the principles of risk management, including both financial risks (liquidity, capital, credit, market risk) alongside non-financial risks (operational risk, compliance, fraud risk, IT security principles).

Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word and be ready to learn.
