Our client, an International Bulk ship Management company in Athens, is actively seeking a dedicated HSQE/DPA/CSO to join their team. The ideal candidate will lead the Company’s marine, health, safety, quality, environmental and security management framework, while fulfilling the statutory functions of Designated Person Ashore and Company Security Officer for the managed fleet. The position has the authority necessary to fulfil all three functions, to communicate with vessels and relevant external parties, require corrective action, escalate significant risks, attend vessels when necessary. Working closely with the General Manager, Department Heads, Masters, senior officers and vessel personnel, and liaises with flag and port-state authorities, classification societies, recognised organisations, auditors, inspectors, clients, port facilities and approved service providers. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement, maintain and continuously improve the Company’s integrated Management System across the office and managed vessels.
- Monitor compliance with the ISM and ISPS Codes, applicable ISO standards, Company policies and relevant flag, class, statutory and industry requirements.
- Report directly to the General Manager on significant risks, performance, compliance gaps and required resources or shore-based support.
- Coordinate audits, inspections, risk assessments, investigations, drills, Management Reviews and the timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead the MHSQE function, promote a strong safety and security culture and provide guidance and training to shore and vessel personnel.
- Act as a member of the Emergency Response Team and coordinate with authorities, class, auditors, clients and other relevant external parties.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or another relevant discipline and/or a valid Master Mariner or Senior Engineer Officer licence with experience on board bulk carriers.
- At least three years of relevant senior-level experience in marine, safety, quality or superintendent position and/or at least three years of practical knowledge and experience as a Senior Deck Officer or Senior Engineer Officer on board bulk carriers.
- Sound knowledge of the ISM and ISPS Codes, SOLAS, MARPOL, applicable ISO standards and relevant maritime legislation and industry requirements.
- Certified ISM or ISO auditor or Lead Auditor; recognised DPA and CSO training or certification as required by applicable rules.
- Strong leadership & managerial skills, risk-assessment, investigation, communication, reporting and follow-up skills, with professional fluency in English and good computer literacy.
- High integrity, sound judgement, confidentiality and willingness to travel and attend vessels when required.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- €120,000 - €160,000 Gross Per Annum.
- Salary will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and skills. The advertised salary range is indicative, any offer will reflect the successful candidate’s suitability.
- 14th Salary.
- 7 days per month hybrid.
