MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing legal advice and support to internal stakeholders on a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to employment contracts, employee relations and workplace policies.

Draft, review and discuss internal policy documentation.

Assisting in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures.

Conduct legal research and stay up to date with employment laws and any changes, developments, court decisions, and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.

Recommending appropriate actions to mitigate legal risks in a variety of areas.

Assist with ensuring compliance with GDPR and other privacy and data protection laws including by conducting privacy impact assessments.

Advising on data protection policies and procedures, and assisting with data breach response and notification.

Advising on complex internal legal matters.

Assisting the firm’s risk management function in identifying and mitigating legal and compliance risks and propose strategies for the management of such risks.

Conducting legal training sessions for employees on various matters including policies relating to employment law matters as well as Data and Privacy regulatory compliance.

Coordinate with external lawyers as and when necessary.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
-
Law degree from a recognized university in Maltese Law.
-
2 to 3 years of experience as an In-House Lawyer or equivalent role (experience as a Lawyer within an In-house legal function will be given priority).

Strong knowledge of Employment Law and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and an ability to apply legal principles to business operations.

Exceptional English and Maltese communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to in a simple way to non-legal professionals.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical legal advice to stakeholders.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work products, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data privacy.

An ability to work in teams of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
