A multi-national Accountancy firm is looking for an Italian Speaking Accounting & Corporate Services Manager to lead their Accounting team in Malta (or Milan). Our client plans to open a branch in Milan this summer and therefore looking for an Italian Chartered Accountant with experience in Maltese Accounting. `GRS are looking for a mature person with a strong accounting and/or corporate services background, a flair for management, coaching and leading staff as well as business development. The role will be based in Malta initially and once the new office opens, you can relocate to Milan if preferred. The ideal candidate will be CPA qualified, have Client Accounting and Corporate experience with at least 2 years’ accounting experience in Malta.   • Manage a growing portfolio of international clients.
  • Responsible for assisting in the formation and maintaining of both Maltese and Italian entities, arranging for legal, accounting and tax advice etc., in collaboration with in-house or external advisors, ensuring that all accounting and legal requirements are complied with and for delivering services in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure the delivery of accurate management accounts, annual accounts and tax returns as well as assisting clients with the preparation and filing of the VAT returns.
  • Liaise with with international clients’ representatives as well as with banks, accounting firms and law firms around the world.
  • Assist with developing new business.
  • Manage, support and motivate your own team.
  • Provide services to clients. Under the supervision and with guidance from your colleagues, this would include all aspects of client accounting, assisting with tax, VAT and compliance, company secretarial and general client management
  • Assist with bank opening procedures in particular coordinating the collection of due diligence documentation and assisting with KYC exercises
  • Assist with company formation and administration both in Malta and where necessary in other countries (mainly through our partners in those countries)
  • Assist with invoicing and drafting of fee estimates, quotes, proposals to potential and existing clients
  • Following up on leads
  • General duties as may be required, bearing in mind we are a small office, at least in the short term
  • At least three years in accounting in Italy, preferably within an accounting firm. Ideally you would also have worked in a similar position for at least two years in Malta, working with Maltese accounting and corporate services. It is however perfectly acceptable if all your experience has been gained working outside Malta.
  • Good level of education.
  • Experience working in areas such as international corporate taxation or European VAT would be considered an asset.
  • Good knowledge of general office software such as Word, Excel and Outlook as well as experience using at least one accounting program. Knowledge of Xero or QuickBooks accounting software would be favorably considered.
  • Strong command of the English language is necessary (knowledge of foreign languages such as German, French or Spanish would be an asset).
  • Good analytical skills and logical thinking with the ability to find practical solutions to challenging tasks.
  • Result-orientated and good at prioritizing tasks.
