A maritime transportation company offering integrated logistics solutions, are working in partnership with GRS to recruit a Legal Advisor & Claims Handler for their Limassol office. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar in-house role or experience in a private practice law firm with specialisation in shipping and corporate law. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide legal support to the company’s Chartering and Operations Department.
  • Conduct Legal Research.
  • Handle FD&D disputes (e.g. Hire related disputes, demurrage disputes etc), participate in settlement negotiations under supervision from management and maintain an organised and diligent record of all active disputes.
  • Preparation of case bundles and litigation and arbitration case management.
  • The collection storage and retention of information in a systematic manner.
  • Liaison with P&I clubs, law firms, fee earners and clients.
  • Work in close collaboration with the firm’s Chartering, Analytics, Claims, Accounting and Operations department under the supervision of the company’s Head of Analytics and Performance.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • University degree in Law (LLB). A postgraduate degree (LLM) with specialisation in Maritime Law or any other related field will be considered an advantage.
  • A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in a similar in-house role or experience in a private practice law firm with specialisation in shipping and corporate law.
  • A dynamic and results oriented individual.
  • High sense of initiative, professionalism, and responsibility. High conscientiousness is a key attribute sought in prospective candidates.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent command of the written and spoken English language.
  • Knowledge of French will be considered an advantage.
