A leading Financial Services/Investment Management firm is looking for a Lawyer with AML/Compliance expertise to join their team in Malta. This is an exciting role, with excellent career prospects as the role will build to MLRO and eventually Group Legal Counsel. The ideal candidate will hold qualification in Law and in depth knowledge of relevant AML/CFT laws and regulations, particularly the FIAU Implementing Procedures (IPs), Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (PMLFTR), Anti Money Laundering Directive (AMLD). MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure Company’s policies and procedures are updated in line with laws and regulations

Providing recommendations for system and procedural enhancements in regard to AML/CFT

Liaising with FIAU with regards to AML matters and ensuring the company remains compliant with all relevant AML/CFT regulations

Ownership of designing, implementing, and maintaining AML/CFT policy manuals including the Business Risk Assessment (BRA) and the Customer Risk Assessment (CRA)

Providing legal operational support, on the day-to-day contractual reviews, drafting, negotiation (NDA, Service Provider Agreement, Consultancy Agreement, MOU

Liaising with company external lawyers
CANDIDATE PROFILE
-
Working experience within the legal, compliance and/or AML Sector preferably in the financial services industry

In depth knowledge of relevant AML/CFT laws and regulations, particularly the FIAU Implementing Procedures (IPs), Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), Prevention of Money Laundering and Funding of Terrorism Regulations (PMLFTR), Anti Money Laundering Directive (AMLD)

The ability to read, speak and write effectively in English (Italian is a plus)

Currently acting as an MLRO and PQd is considered a plus

Relevant certification in AML/CFT
