A global shipping company which is launching a brand-new service between Malta and Sicily are looking for a Motorman to join their new venture in Sicily. You will be sailing aboard a state-of-the-art, high-speed catamaran between the two islands and will report to the Assistant Engineer. You will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the vessel’s engineering plant. The ideal candidate will hold a Motorman license and have STCW 95 certification, ideally having previously sailed on a high-speed vessel. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participate in the safe operation of vessel as required within Transport Malta regulations

Participate in drills with Marine and Non-marine crew as directed by the Master or with engineering crew

Report any problems to the Chief Engineer immediately

Maintain a safe and clean engine room
-
Properly process and pump sewage and oily water tanks as directed

Make emergency repairs when needed to the engineering plant as well as passenger spaces

Perform daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance as directed

Assist with vessel moorings and unmooring as directed

Perform all other duties and responsibilities normally expected of a vessel’s Motorman

Present a neat and alert personal appearance
CANDIDATE PROFILE
-
3 Years’ experience in Marine Engineering demonstrating the ability to handle increasing levels of responsibility

Excellent career record in the marine industry

Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
-
Complete work assignments as directed by the Assistant Engineer

Demonstrate well-developed inter-personal skills
-
Set and achieve high standards of performance
-
Demonstrate initiative and be able to make progress on multiple assignments under time constraints
-
Motorman license/Document
-
STCW 95 Certificate
-
High Speed passenger vessel experience preferred
-
Successful completion of in-house IMO-HSC Type Rating Program
