A global financial institution, which is fully regulated by the MFSA is looking for a Payments Supervisor to join their Banking Ops team in Malta. You will be responsible for the smooth running and processing of the Payments / Treasury back-office team together with Head of Dept and other team members. The ideal candidate will have experience in Banking back office operations and familiar with international payments within Banking, Financial Services, Legal or Import Export Environments. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assisting Head of Dept to supervise, monitor and coordinate daily team activities to ensure that they are in line with the Banks policies and procedures and with departmental goals
  • Assisting Head of Dept with daily running of payments departments and lead, motivate and develop teams of payment settlement and static data processors
  • Reconcile and supervise transactions processed
  • Co-ordination of payment requests and queries originating from clients as well as banks;
  • Ensuring that payments are processed within cut-off times and ensure high service levels at all times
  • Timely report cases on non-processing as per procedure(s)
  • Ensuring high levels of straight-through processing are maintained
  • Reporting any suspicious transactions to the MLRO
  • Adherence to AML, sanctions and regulations for any transactions processed
  • Monitor payments being processed through different channels e.g. BankS Direct, Swift etc.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to handle any queries that arise
  • Authorise transactions in accordance with policies and procedures within the department
  • Identifying areas of optimisation and automation to increase efficiencies within the department either through revised processes and/or system changes
  • Keeping abreast with payments directive changes and payment related regulations and accordingly update policies and procedures and initiate process and system changes as required
  • Ensuring department objectives are met on target
  • Participate and oversee team projects involving the testing of new setups on banking software to meet business needs
  • Submission of reports and statistical data as required and requested
  • Attendance to internal and/or external payments related user group meetings and committees (if required)
  • Assisting in reconciliation of internal accounts across products as required
  • Enhance teamwork and developing team spirit
  • Ensuring there is necessary back-up to provide continuity and good customer service.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Possess banking experience within an Operations Back Office team
  • Experienced in International Payments within Banking, Financial Services, Legal or Import-Export Environments
  • Possess good knowledge of SWIFT, SEPA, faster and international and domestic payments
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail in highly pressurised environments
  • Ability to work in client facing or client liaison environments
  • Experience of processing/supervising high volume and high value payment settlements within banking systems
  • Demonstrate sound judgement and decision-making skills
