An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Analyst to join a well-established Investment & Trading firm in Malta. The company trades on the Malta stock exchange but also in foreign securities and are looking for a Research Analyst to follow local and international markets and compile necessary reports.  The perfect candidate will possess a banking/economics/finance-related University degree or is currently pursuing other studies leading to the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), the Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA), or any one of the qualifications in Capital Markets and Corporate Finance provided by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI). MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Follow local and international financial markets regularly.
  • Review and analyse financial reports of Maltese and international companies.
  • Form an opinion on the investment case of such companies and formulate reports for publication and/or internal use.
  • Attend to any invitations for analyst meetings and/or other type of corporate events organised by listed companies.
  • Compile other reports for internal or external use.
  • Maintain stock market related statistics and databases for internal use.
  • Provide additional support and assistance in relation to other ‘ad-hoc’ requirements.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Possess a banking/economics/finance-related University degree or is currently pursuing other studies leading to the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), the Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA), or any one of the qualifications in Capital Markets and Corporate Finance provided by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI).
  • Have a strong interest and sound understanding of financial markets and investments.
  • Have a proven ability to analyse and perform valuations of companies, as well as present findings to internal Investment Committees.
  • Possess advanced report writing, organisational and time management skills.
  • Be very fluent in the English language (written and spoken).
  • Possess experience in managing Microsoft Excel at advanced level.
  • Must be a dynamic, organised, and self-motivated individual with the ability to prioritise daily workload while working accurately and efficiently under pressure.
  • Must be capable of taking full responsibility for duties assigned to him/her, working on own initiative, and meet set timeframes and deadlines.
  • Candidates with previous experience in a similar role and knowledge of financial market data software systems/portals such as Refinitiv Eikon will be given preference.
