Our client, a leading player in the Travel & Tourism industry based in Malta, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Accounts Executive to join their finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to develop their career within a dynamic and supportive environment. Core duties include process payroll journals and oversee the end-to-end payroll accounting process and support monthly and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Halfway through ACCA qualification or at least 5 years of proven relevant experience is required. 
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Process payroll journals and oversee the end-to-end payroll accounting process
  • Support monthly and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Prepare, manage, and review prepayments and accruals in line with accounting standards
  • Prepare and review journal entries to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Contribute to the delivery of month-end management reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements as required
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reconcile data between operational systems and the accounting system
  • Provide support during internal and external audits
  • Assist with payment run processing, including review, and tracking  
  • Maintain existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and continuously improve accounting processes and workflows
  • Support the implementation of new systems to enhance integration and improve operational efficiency
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks as required.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Halfway through ACCA qualification or at least 5 years of proven relevant experience.
  • Previous experience within the hospitality industry will be considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet established deadlines
  • Willing and available to travel on short vessel trips
  • Detail-oriented, analytical and with strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication
