A well-placed, multi-location Trust & Corporate Services company is searching for a Senior Client Accountant/Compliance Officer to join them in Malta. You will be assigned a portfolio of clients and will be entrusted to proper keeping of accounting records, preparation of management accounts and financial statements. The role also entails the fulfilling of the Company’s obligations in terms of Anti-Money Laundering/Combatting the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) legislation. The ideal candidate will be in the latter stages of ACCA and have 3 years’ experience as a Client Accountant, together with sound Compliance expertise. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Accounting:
  • Manage a portfolio of clients
  • Keeping of accounting records
  • Preparation of management accounts and financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and General Accounting Principles for Small and Medium Sized Entities (GAPSME)
  • Preparation of files for the auditors
  • Liaising with clients/auditors in a timely manner
Compliance:
  • Periodic Review of the Company’s PMLFT Procedures Manual
  • Periodic Review of the Company’s Business Risk Assessment
  • Periodic Review of the Company’s Business Continuity Plan
  • The preparation of the Annual Company’s Compliance Monitoring Programme
  • Preparation of Compliance reports for the Board to approve on a quarterly basis (or more frequently if necessary) after each audit
  • Review of the Annual Compliance Report to be submitted to the MFSA
  • Review of the REQ to be submitted to the FIAU
  • Periodic Risk Assessment Report presented to the Board
  • Review of AML documentation held on clients
  • Review of onboarded clients;
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • At least 3 years solid and hands-on experience in a similar environment
  • CPA warrant holder and ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Sound Compliance expertise
  • Experience in drafting and submission of tax returns and tax refund claims
  • Experience in dealing with / advising international clients
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Highly motivated and with an eye for detail
  • Willingness to travel to promote the firm’s services.
