Our esteemed client, a leading insurance company based in Malta, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Management team and play a central role in the design, creation, and evolution of our overall data services, data warehouse and analytics platform. This is a hands-on senior role, combining strong data engineering expertise with responsibility for SSIS pipelines, SSRS reporting, Power BI data sets and dashboards, and the future implementation of AI-enabled data tools. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Work closely with business users to deliver clear, trusted, and actionable insights
- Develop, support, and enhance SSIS ETL pipelines across multiple source systems
- Design, develop, and support SSRS reports for operational, management, and regulatory needs
- Create and maintain Power BI datasets, models, and dashboards
- Be an active part of the design and build team behind the establishment of our data warehouse
- Implement robust data quality, validation, reconciliation, and monitoring processes
- Act as a senior technical contributor within the Data Management function
- Mentor junior team members and promote best practices in data engineering and reporting
- Collaborate effectively with business, governance, and IT teams
- Contribute to architectural decisions and the long-term data and analytics roadmap
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- 5+ years’ experience in data engineering, BI engineering, or similar roles
- Experience working with relational databases and analytical data platforms
- Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments
- Strong hands-on experience with SSIS
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts
- Strong experience with Power BI (datasets, DAX, dashboards)
- Proven experience developing and supporting SSRS reports
- Proven experience in designing and building a data warehouse, preferably from inception to production
- Advanced SQL skills and strong data modelling expertise
- Understanding of data governance, lineage, and quality controls
- Strong team player who values collaboration and shared success
