Our client, a well-established gaming organisation based in Malta, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Executive Due Diligence to join their compliance team. The Senior Executive Due Diligence is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Due Diligence Team, ensuring that onboarding and ongoing monitoring reviews are conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, on a risk-based approach. The role ensures the effective execution and quality assurance of due diligence on applicants and authorised persons. Responsibilities include conducting Fit & Proper assessments, reviewing Source of Wealth and Source of Funds, and performing adverse media checks and list screening. The Senior Executive is responsible for compiling and presenting clear, well-structured assessment memoranda with findings and recommendations to the relevant internal committees, providing day-to-day guidance to the Due Diligence Team, and contributing to the continuous improvement of due diligence processes. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee, coordinate, and provide day-to-day guidance to the Due Diligence Team, ensuring that onboarding and ongoing due diligence reviews are conducted efficiently, consistently, and in line with regulatory requirements and internal standards
  • Oversee and conduct standard and enhanced due diligence on new licence applicants and key persons, including Ultimate Beneficial Owners, qualifying shareholders, directors, and key persons
  • Guide and quality-assure Source of Wealth and Source of Funds reviews, determine appropriate evidentiary requirements, and ensure conclusions are well-reasoned, proportionate, and adequately supported
  • Ensure screening and searches are conducted accurately, assess identified risks or red flags, and determine appropriate recommendations and way forward
  • Compile, review, and sign off comprehensive due diligence memoranda outlining findings, risk assessments, and clear recommendations arising from both onboarding and ongoing monitoring activities
  • Oversee the ongoing monitoring and periodic review of existing licensees, including the assessment of screening hits, adverse media, and changes in risk profile
  • Present due diligence findings and recommendations to the relevant internal committees for consideration and approval
  • Provide ongoing guidance, coaching, and quality assurance to team members to ensure a consistently high standard of analysis and documentation
  • Identify process gaps and inefficiencies and propose practical improvements to due diligence and ongoing monitoring frameworks
  • Provide regular updates to the Manager – Authorisations on team performance, key risks, and workload
  • Carry out any other duties or tasks as may be directed by management
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  •  In possession of a Bachelor’s Degree (MQF Level 6 or equivalent) in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Candidates with Diploma Level (MQF Level 5 or equivalent) will be considered if in possession of at least 5 years of related experience
  • Proven experience in due diligence, AML/CFT, compliance, or regulatory roles, with a strong focus on Source of Wealth and Source of Funds reviews
  • Solid understanding of Fit & Proper assessments, adverse media and list screening, and related analysis
  •  Experience in managing or supervising a team will be considered a strong asset
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, mentor, and motivate team members
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex structures and financial backgrounds
  • Ability to organise, draft, and present findings and recommendations in a clear, structured, and detailed manner (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and evolving regulatory environment
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
  •  Ability to think strategically while maintaining attention to detail and quality
