On behalf of our client, a well-respected legal firm based in Malta, GRS Recruitment is seeking to recruit a Senior Finance Executive. This role supports the company’s Finance function by ensuring accurate financial records, managing payments and banking operations, and ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements. The Senior Finance Executive will oversee bookkeeping up to trial balance, handle intercompany reconciliations, and assist with month-end and year-end processes. The position also involves preparing audit documentation and liaising with external auditors to ensure smooth and timely audits. The position requires a detail-oriented professional with solid technical expertise and the ability to work independently, contributing to the smooth running of the finance department. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain accurate accounting records up to trial balance.
  • Oversee the purchase ledger, including verification and posting of supplier invoices.
  • Process and reconcile company Visa card payments, ensuring all receipts and supporting documents are obtained and correctly coded.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Apply solid knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping across all tasks.
  • Prepare and process supplier payments, employee expense reimbursements, and other authorised outgoing payments.
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns in line with statutory requirements.
  • Support general financial reporting and month-end processes as required.
  • Prepare and maintain the annual audit file, ensuring all schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation are complete and accurate.
  • Coordinate the compilation of information required for external audits and liaise with auditors as necessary.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Minimum A-Level standard of education (or equivalent).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar finance role.
  • Strong practical experience in:
  • Bookkeeping and double-entry accounting.
  • Bank reconciliations.
  • Intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
  • Processing payments and managing ledgers.
  • Preparing month/year-end adjustments up to trial balance.
  • Preparing audit files and handling auditor queries.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving approach.
  • Experience with Acumatica accounting software (considered an asset).
  • Knowledge of Maltese VAT and compliance regulations.
