On behalf of our client within the Engineering sector, GRS Recruitment are seeking for a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer in Malta. The ideal candidate will lead, manage, plan & co-ordinate the technical and commercial aspects of projects relating to mechanical installations, including design development, cost estimation, and technical support to operations, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, within budget, and in accordance with client and contract requirements. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that all required technical and commercial information is available for the preparation of designs, drawings, and cost estimates, in accordance with tender and awarded contract requirements.
- Take full responsibility for the mechanical design and technical development on assigned projects, including reviewing and validating design solutions.
- Lead the preparation and review of workshop drawings, ensuring full co-ordination with other services, structural elements, and architectural finishes.
- Review and approve material and equipment submittals, literature, and samples for client approval, ensuring compliance with specifications and cost efficiency.
- Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates, BOQs, and material take-offs based on tender documentation, drawings, and specifications.
- Analyse tender specifications and system designs, identifying risks, opportunities, and value engineering options to optimise project costs.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors (local and international) to obtain competitive quotations and ensure technical compliance with project requirements.
- Oversee and approve procurement processes, including preparation and review of
- orders for mechanical equipment and materials.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the operations team during project execution, including resolving technical issues related to installation and coordination.
- Act as the main technical point of contact for clients on projects under their responsibility, attending meetings and providing expert input on mechanical systems.
- Lead coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of design, cost, and execution strategies.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, reviewing their work and ensuring adherence to company standards and best practices.

- Proven experience in project management within a mechanical engineering environment.
- Background in engineering, with a strong understanding of mechanical building services.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Previous experience working within manufacturing settings is desirable.
