Our client is looking to recruit a hands-on ‘Senior Risk Officer’ to support the Head of Risk in building and running a robust, practical risk framework across the firm. The ideal candidate combines strong knowledge of EU/CySEC/ESMA requirements with project management discipline to turn policies into daily routines, dashboards, and clear decision-making. You’ll coordinate risk initiatives, prepare management materials, and help close audit and regulatory actions. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Market & Liquidity Risk Operations
    • Assist with exposure/limits monitoring, exception logs, and escalations.
    • Review regular the risk metrics (VaR/CVaR/vol metrics if applicable). Implement stress/scenario packs, and concise commentary for management.
Regulatory & Framework
    • Maintain the Risk Management Policy, Trading Book & Hedging Policy, and supporting procedures.
    • Support annual ICARA cycle (capital/liquidity assessments, stress testing, wind-down overlays, documentation).
    • Coordinate DORA implementation tasks (ICT risk register, incident logging, third-party/outsourcing controls).
Operational & Counterparty Risk
    • Maintain incident register (root cause, actions, closure evidence); drive follow-ups with owners and deadlines.
    • Run third-party risk assessments (banks, LPs, brokers, critical vendors), including due-diligence files and exit plans; maintain outsourcing register.
Reporting & Governance
    • Prepare packs for Risk Committee and Board (key risks, breaches, KRI trends, audit/regulatory updates).
    • Keep evidence repositories tidy (workpapers, version control, sign-offs).
Project Management
    • Own trackers for risk projects (policy updates, audits, remediation, systems), chase actions, clear blockers, and report status.
    • Coordinate cross-department deliverables (Dealing, Compliance, Finance, IT) with clear ETAs and escalation paths.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • A minimum of 3years in risk, or audit at a regulated financial firm with CySEC/ESMA exposure.
  • Demonstrable project management ability (plans,  stakeholder follow-ups, on-time delivery).
  • Working knowledge of ICARA (IFR/IFD), MiFID II, EMIR, and awareness of DORA.
  • Strong fundamentals in finance and equities; accounting (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) basics; probability & statistics; time-series basics; market microstructure; and derivatives (margin, basic Greeks).
  • Strong Excel; able to structure data and sanity-check metrics.
  • Clear written communication and Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with trading exposure, hedging basics, and limit frameworks.
  • Audit liaison and remediation tracking experience.
  • Proactive, business minded and a team-player contributions
