A leading financial institution which offers Investment & Custody services is looking for a Settlements Officer to join their Securities & Custody Department. The role is varied and will cover the daily booking of trade settlements instructions on banking system, the upkeep of the security master database, cash and trade reconciliations and instructing of trade settlement instructions with various settlement counterparties. The ideal candidate will have 1 years’ experience in a similar role and a degree in a relevant subject. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Set up of securities in the master database and effecting necessary updates
  • Book voluntary and mandatory corporate actions (including foreign exchange transactions, where applicable); Filing, scanning and saving, archiving of physical records in line with the process manual
  • Effect the necessary trade bookings on customer portfolio accounts (including foreign exchange transactions)
  • Monthly and quarterly reconciliations with counterparties
  • Daily reconciliations of cash balance
  • General administration tasks within the settlements team
  • Securities reconciliations against counterparties’ records
  • Ongoing initiative to identify processes which ensure more effective modus operandi of the Securities department
  • Effective communication with Settlement counterparties
  • Resolve external and internal queries relating to settlements
  • Attend monthly department meetings
  • Keep abreast of all banking rules, regulations and directives issued by the MFSA / ESMA and other related bodies which are relevant to daily duties
  • Take on any necessary training that is required from time to time, including training that is required due to change in internal processes and procedures
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • A Minimum of one year’ experience is required
  • A College or University degree or relevant certifications are considered an asset;
  • Extensive training will be provided
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel
  • Proactive, focused attitude towards work and an ability to plan and consistently meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication in English
  • Analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
