A Government organisation is looking for an experienced Statistician to ensure the use of appropriate statistical methodologies and procedures that would give insightful indications of socio-economic situations in Malta. The perfect candidate will hold a Statistics, Mathematics, Accounting or similar and have sound numerical and analytical skills together with knowledge of official statistics. Our client has offices in Malta’s capital and a professional and diverse work force. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Design methods and procedures for obtaining data, such as surveys and administrative sources

Contribute to the development of innovative data collection and analytical tools

Verify data for inaccuracies and apply statistical methods to address such limitations
-
Analyse data in economic, business and social fields, in both aggregate and raw form
-
Contribute to the writing of reports and the preparation of data for publication
-
Assist in building confidence in statistics using the company guidelines and the principles of the European Statistics Code of Practice

Identify client needs and present findings
-
Interpret statistical analysis for policy development

Participate in and contribute to research
-
Follow and take part in national and international statistical fora
CANDIDATE PROFILE

Good knowledge of the socio-economic or business domain
-
Sound numerical and analytical skills
-
Knowledge of a subject relevant to official statistics
-
Excellent computer skills and an ability to learn computer statistical packages

Ability to work alone or as part of a multi-disciplinary team
-
Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficient writing skills and an eye for detail.
