Our client, a well-regarded insurance provider, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Systems Administrator to join their dynamic team in Malta. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for providing day-to-day support and maintenance for all Windows hardware, operating systems, and enterprise applications.
- Accountable for maintaining server and security configurations in compliance with established best practices and established baseline configurations.
- Responsible for Administration of Microsoft Windows Servers, Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, IIS.
- General Administration of SQL.
- Upgrade/install Windows OS and Server software.
- Administration of Hyper-V and Datacore for data storage and replication.
- Administration of Exchange on-premise and O365 including SharePoint and MS Teams.
- Ensure proper backup processes are in place to allow for full recovery of sites, systems and documents using Veeam, and/or other backup solutions.
- Conduct periodic backup restoration and DR/BCP testing in accordance with the schedule and procedures in place.
- Maintain proper Change Control and Configuration Management processes.
- Monitor sites daily, respond to alerts, and provide on-call support.
- Create PowerShell scripts to automate tasks.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly Windows system checklist with historical trending reports.
- Provide monthly KPI metrics and trending reports.
- Work service requests and help desk tickets on a daily basis.
- Implement Patch Management using WSUS.
- Reduce security vulnerabilities by ensuring systems are updated promptly/Apply security patches and updates according to the patching schedule.
- Assist in the preparation of business continuity plans and perform periodical tests as necessary.
- Perform maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of the corporate network and general infrastructure.
- Maintain change and incident management procedures for IT Operations.
- Share ownership of IT operational policies and procedures within all IT core disciplines.
- Ensure continuous IT Operations utilizing Remote Monitoring performance tools.
- Work with internal and external resources to promote changes to production and other environments and to promote rapid response to known issues.
- Support application architectures and the general application functionality running in various environments.
- Maintain training programs to ensure appropriate personnel are thoroughly trained on new and/or upgraded software, system application tools, and on the awareness of information security and threats that might be encountered and how to deal with such circumstances.
- Assist and monitor compliance to information security.
- Recognise problems by identifying abnormalities and reporting violations.
- Assist with upgrades of server operating systems and databases and keep track on upgrade releases.
- Generate reports as requested by management on a periodical or ad-hoc basis.
- Direct the installation and use of security tools (e.g., firewalls, data encryption) to protect sensitive information.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by management.
- Perform onsite visits to the various Branches, and Disaster Recovery site on a three (3) week basis and produce reports on any issues and/or recommendations to the management.
- Contribute to IT projects and system enhancements ensuring continuous compliance with industry standards and regulatory frameworks, including DORA and GDPR.
- Maintain an accurate and approved inventory of all physical and digital assets to meet compliance and audit requirements.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Proven experience in IT support or helpdesk roles within a professional environment.
- Background or familiarity with insurance, pensions, or financial services is highly desirable.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with non-technical staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Knowledge of IT security best practices and data protection regulations.
