We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Tax Compliance Accountant to join our finance team in Malta. The ideal candidate will be ACCA qualified and have proven experience working within the Maltese tax and regulatory framework. You will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with local tax obligations, liaising with regulatory authorities, and supporting both corporate and individual clients with accurate and timely tax filings.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare and submit corporate income tax, VAT, and other statutory returns in accordance with Maltese tax laws and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all local tax deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with the Commissioner for Revenue (CFR) and other regulatory authorities on tax matters.
  • Conduct tax reviews and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Advise on local tax implications for corporate structures, transactions, and cross-border operations.
  • Assist in tax audits and provide supporting documentation to authorities when required.
  • Stay up to date with changes in Maltese tax legislation and ensure proper implementation.
  • Support the finance team with tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and reporting in line with accounting standards.
  • Provide tax compliance support to clients and internal stakeholders.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • ACCA qualification (or equivalent professional qualification in accountancy).
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of proven experience in tax compliance/accounting in Malta.
  • Strong knowledge of Maltese tax legislation (corporate tax, VAT, personal tax).
  • Experience in liaising with CFR and handling tax audits.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly.
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications (Excel essential).
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
 
Desirable
  • Experience in advising international clients on Maltese tax implications.
  • Knowledge of EU tax directives and cross-border compliance.
