Our client is a well-standing company operating within the shipping industry and they maintain a strong international presence with offices across multiple global locations. The wider team is highly diverse, comprising professionals of more than 10 nationalities across 6 offices worldwide. On behalf of our client, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join their Limassol office. The successful candidate will be part of a small accounting team and will work closely with the Accounts Manager, supporting day-to-day accounting operations and contributing to group-wide financial reporting and analysis.
 
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work as part of a small accounting team (3 additional team members), reporting directly to the Accounts Manager
  • Assist with daily accounting operations, including:
    • Reconciliations (debtors, creditors, and bank accounts)
    • Invoicing and processing of bank transactions
    • General bookkeeping and journal entries
  • Liaise with local payroll specialists in each office to facilitate accurate salary preparation
  • Monitor receivables from clients and manage payment schedules to suppliers
  • Track credit line utilisation and repayment schedules
  • Prepare documentation and supporting materials for audits
  • Assist in the preparation of transaction documents related to bank financing
  • Contribute to the preparation of regular management accounts and reports, including consolidation across all group companies
  • Assist with budget preparation and ongoing budget monitoring
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Accounting Qualification from a recognised European Body 
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience
  • Previous experience in the shipping industry will be considered an advantage, but is not mandatory
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices
  • Experience with reconciliations, management reporting, and multi-entity environments
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multicultural environment
  • Good communication skills in English (Greek is an advantage)
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
