Our client, a reputable insurance company based in Malta, is seeking to appoint a dedicated Accountant - Insurance & Regulatory Accounting. The Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Company's financial and regulatory accounting activities, including the preparation of financial information and Solvency II regulatory reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance, Actuarial, Risk, and Compliance functions to ensure accurate, timely, and reliable financial and regulatory information.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounts.

Prepare and maintain accounting records, reconciliations, journals, and supporting schedules.

Assist with the preparation and submission of Solvency II regulatory returns and reporting.

Support the preparation of regulatory and statutory financial statements.

Ensure accounting records are maintained accurately and in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Assist with the analysis and reconciliation of technical provisions, insurance-related balances, and other financial information.

Liaise with actuarial and other relevant functions regarding financial and regulatory data.

Assist with the preparation of management accounts, financial analysis, and reporting packs.

Support internal and external audit processes.

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning where required.

Monitor accounting processes and contribute to improving financial reporting procedures and controls.

Keep abreast of developments in accounting standards, insurance accounting, and regulatory reporting requirements.

Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as required.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
-
Qualified Accountant, or currently at the final stage of obtaining ACCA, or holder of an MA in Accounting or equivalent qualification.

Previous experience in accounting is preferred.

Experience within the insurance industry is highly desirable.

Knowledge of insurance accounting and/or Solvency II reporting will be considered a strong asset.

Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Strong numerical, analytical, and reconciliation skills.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Good command of written and spoken English.

Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a regulated environment.

Ability to work independently as well as as part of a multidisciplinary team.
SALARY AND BENEFITS

€45,000 - €55,000 Gross Per Annum

ACCA qualification or equivalent professional qualification.

Experience with Solvency II quantitative and/or financial reporting.

Experience in insurance finance, regulatory accounting, or financial services.

Familiarity with accounting and financial reporting systems.

Knowledge of IFRS, particularly insurance-related accounting requirements, would be an advantage.
