A trading company operating within the FMCG industry is working in partnership with GRS Recruitment to hire an Accounting Supervisor for their Nicosia based team. As an Accounting Supervisor you will oversee and evaluate the day-to-day accounting operations that are essential to the company's performance and long-term success. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial processes while establishing, implementing, and enforcing sound accounting methods, policies, and principles. Working closely with the finance team and other departments, you will drive operational efficiency, maintain compliance with applicable regulations and standards, and provide leadership that supports informed business decisions and continuous improvement.
 
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Formulate an Accounting strategy, develop an action plan in coordination with Senior Management, and define needed financial and human resources to achieve set objectives.
  • Manage the development of Accounting policies and procedures, as well as the design and implementation of related processes and performance measurement models.
  • Approve payment vouchers and control the reconciliation of transitory account and cash settlements upon repayment
  • Allocate the cost related to the various expenses (rent, freight, insurance, telephone, fuel, etc.) as per company policy, and process payment of related charges on the system.
  • Supervise the maintenance of accounts’ system and keep records on all company’s daily transactions and assets.
  • Handle bank and suppliers’ reconciliations; monitor and resolve issues and discrepancies including fees anomalies
  • Review on a monthly basis, all critical transitory accounts for reconciliation and adjustments.
  • Control and review all provisions accounts along with their related write back accounting sketch
  • Handle fiscal declaration, and ensure prompt and accurate payment of taxes.
  • Ensure that statements and records comply with laws and regulations, and handle local government reporting.
  • Issue on a regular basis reports on accounting and financial information to allow informed decision making.
  • Perform various responsibilities related to team supervision including planning and assigning tasks, setting deadlines, monitoring results and giving feedback on work, providing on-the-job training, relaying attendance and behavioral issues, etc.
  • Carry out other similar duties that can be defined within the broad functional job and functional responsibilities outlined above. These may include special missions assigned by direct supervisor, support to other units, providing on the job training, etc.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • 5 years’ experience in similar role, with proven expertise in managing operational and/or financial processes.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Accounting, Audit or Business-related field is required.
  • Excellent commands of Greek and English, both written and verbal
  • Previous experience leading, coaching, and developing a team is essential.
  • Experience using Oracle ERP and Business Objects reporting tools will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience motivating, guiding, and developing team members.
  • High level of adaptability and flexibility, with the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic business environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate information, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and sound decision-making skills.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to achieving individual and team objectives.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective reporting and data analysis skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and insightful reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with Oracle and Business Objects is considered an asset.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
  • Salary will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and skills. The advertised salary range is indicative; any offer will reflect the successful candidate’s suitability.
  • Working hours: Monday-Thursday 07:30-16:30 with 30’ lunch break or until 16:00 and 1 day of the week until 13:00 (any day you choose).
  • Provident fund after probation
