A leading software development company is working with GRS Recruitment to recruit an experienced AI Researcher to join its research team in Limassol. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital signal processing and wireless communications, developing advanced machine learning solutions for the automated detection, classification and interpretation of complex radio and RF signals. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on challenging research problems involving noisy and overlapping signal environments, large datasets and state-of-the-art deep learning techniques, while helping translate research into practical solutions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Research, develop, train and evaluate deep learning models, including CNNs, RNNs and Transformers, for the detection, classification and characterisation of radio signals.
  • Develop machine learning approaches for applications including modulation classification and emitter detection.
  • Process and analyse IQ data, spectrograms and other RF signal representations using classical digital signal processing and data-driven techniques.
  • Research signal detection methods in challenging environments, including low-SNR, noisy, overlapping and broad-band spectrum conditions.
  • Build, curate and augment training datasets, including the generation of synthetic signal data and domain adaptation techniques.
  • Prototype and validate algorithms using Software-Defined Radio (SDR) platforms and relevant frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in signal processing, software development and systems engineering to translate research findings into practical solutions.
  • Document research findings and results through internal technical reports.
  • Monitor current developments and research trends in AI, signal processing and wireless communications and assess their relevance to ongoing projects.
  • Independently investigate and address complex research questions while contributing to the wider research team.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning and deep learning, demonstrated through professional experience, academic research, projects or publications.
  • Solid understanding of digital signal processing, including Fourier analysis, filtering, sampling and modulation techniques.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Practical experience with a deep learning framework such as PyTorch.
  • Experience working with large, noisy or unstructured datasets.
  • Experience with radio frequency (RF), wireless communications, signal processing or related research would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience with Software-Defined Radio (SDR) platforms and/or RF datasets would be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a scientific and rigorous approach to research.
  • Ability to work independently, formulate research questions and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • A genuine interest in emerging AI technologies and research.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
  • €45,000 - €65,000 Gross Per Annum
  • Salary will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and skills. The advertised salary range is indicative, any offer will reflect the successful candidate’s suitability.
  • Hybrid working opportunities following the initial onboarding and training period.
  • Opportunity to work on advanced AI and signal-processing technologies.
  • Collaborative and technically focused research environment.
  • Strong opportunities for professional and technical development.
  • Work alongside experienced professionals across AI, signal processing, software development and systems engineering.
  • Please note that candidates must be EU nationals with a valid right to work in Cyprus. The successful candidate must be based in Cyprus. New employees are expected to work from the Limassol office during their initial 3–6 months for training and team integration.
