Our client, a reputable and well-established insurance firm based in Malta, GRS Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Broker. Our client is seeking an Assistant Broker to join their Claims Department, supporting Travel and Purchase Protection portfolios. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling claims under delegated authority, issuing policy extensions, and ensuring a seamless and professional claims experience for cardholders. The role requires close collaboration with insurers, internal departments, and external specialists, while maintaining strong communication within the team and ensuring management is kept informed of all relevant developments.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Handle Travel and Purchase Protection claims within delegated authority levels, including issuing policy extensions and responding to client enquiries
  • Escalate claims exceeding authority thresholds to senior management for approval
  • Liaise with insurers, loss adjusters, legal and medical professionals, and claimants to ensure efficient, policy-compliant settlements
  • Maintain accurate and complete claim files, ensuring documentation, reserves, settlements, and system updates are processed promptly
  • Coordinate with Finance to manage invoicing, payments, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
  • Assist in resolving disputes and complaints in collaboration with Compliance and Management
  • Monitor external specialists’ progress and follow up on pending actions to ensure timely resolution
  • Contribute to maintaining high service standards, identifying process improvements, and supporting team performance
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in insurance, preferably within claims handling
  • Strong understanding of claims processes and policy interpretation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong administrative capabilities
