On behalf of our client, a global accounting & advisory firm have opened a brand-new role within the organisation as an Audit Director in Malta. The ideal candidate will work closely with one of the firm’s Partners and will lead and direct the existing team of experienced Auditors and have at least 10 years’ progressive experience in Audit, Assurance, or similar and hold MQF level 7 qualification (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or a related field. You should also hold certification in ACCA, ACA or CPA . MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Shape the long-term vision for the audit function and implement short- and medium-term strategic plans. 
  • Contribute to the broader firm strategy, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives. 
  • Lead the delivery of audit services to a portfolio of local and international clients. 
  • Provide strategic insights and guidance on financial reporting best practices. 
  • Ensure client satisfaction through effective engagement management and feedback integration. 
  • Serve as audit principal for key engagements, where applicable. 
  • Drive revenue growth and profitability through client relationship management, engagement efficiency, and value-based pricing. 
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities; support proposal development and presentations. 
  • Monitor billing, collections, and the overall financial performance of the audit service line. 
  • Identify and mitigate areas of audit and operational risk. 
  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies, procedures, and professional standards. 
  • Evaluate and continuously improve the client service model and quality standards. 
  • Lead, coach, and mentor managers to develop high-performing teams. 
  • Support recruitment, succession planning, and talent development initiatives. 
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-focused team culture. 
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Must be in possession of an MQF level 7 qualification (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or a related field. 
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in audit, assurance, or similar. 
  • A recognised professional qualification (ex: ACCA, CPA, ACA) is essential. 
  • In-depth knowledge of the following frameworks:
    • GAPSME
    • IFRS
    • ISA
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade, negotiate, and influence at senior stakeholder level, including Boards and Audit Committees. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and confidently. 
  • Strong mentorship and leadership capabilities, with experience in talent development and succession planning. 
  • Excellent briefing, report writing, and presentation skills, including experience preparing materials for C-suite or board-level audiences.
