A global financial institution, which is fully regulated by the MFSA is looking for a Business Continuity & Environmental, Social, and Governance Manager to join their Operational Risk department in Malta. The successful candidate will have previous experience and knowledge within the Financial Service Industry, preferably a sound background in Risk Management, Operations or Internal Audit. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in the development new ESG sector-specific policies, supporting data collection exercises, and monitoring accuracy of data collected
  • Monitor ESG risk metrics and escalating where necessary, and reviewing the ESG risk assessment frameworks
  • Work with internal stakeholders outside of the Risk department to implement the policies bank-wide
  • Provide ESG training, monitoring public best practice standards and regulatory development of ESG policies
  • Act as a reference point in relation to ESG within the organisation
  • Plan, implement, maintain, and improve a comprehensive business continuity management system (BCMS) and crisis procedures and ascertain that these are up to date in line with BCM Standards. Roll-out standardised approaches for incident and crisis management while ensuring that plans and post incident reviews are developed and tested
  • Oversee the Group’s Business Recovery Plans and all key Business Continuity documentation is regularly updated and in line with Group Standards
  • Coordinate Contingency Tests and live contingency invocations. Organise incident group meetings/simulations to ensure that all Functions/Business are prepared in case of a major incident
  • Ensure that the Group’s Business Contingency Sites are in a state of readiness by regularly liaising with the Head of Administration and Chief Information Officer ensuring the provision of contingency services for all business units at the identified contingency sites
  • Support Crisis Management team initiatives. Maintain close cooperation with all business units including branches and subsidiaries worldwide, ensuring the organisation has an effective response strategy to major disruptions that may threaten business continuity
  • Act as a reference point in relation to Business Continuity and Health & Safety
  • Assist in preparing reports for the Operational Risk Management Committee
  • Provide support and participating in other tasks undertaken by the Operation Risk section whilst, ensuring that the team’s deliverables are produced to a high standard
  • Constant interaction with members of staff outside of your own team.  Engagement with varying levels of management is also required given that detailed technical/procedural discussions might be with a more junior member of staff whereas more general, principles driven, discussions might be with a department’s senior management
  • Regular interaction with direct line manager and the Head of Non-Credit Risk as well as less frequent interaction with the Chief Risk Officer
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Be in possession of a professional qualification or higher
  • Have previous experience and knowledge within the Financial Service Industry, preferably a sound background in Risk Management, Operations or Internal Audit
  • Have experience in Business Continuity and/or ESG (not essential)
  • Be willing to learn, possess a can –do attitude, ability to work in a team and on own initiative within a highly dynamic international environment
  • Have strong collaboration and influencing skills
  • Possess strong analytical and decision-making skills with an attention to detail in order to assist business risk managers in managing the risk and control activities in their operation
