Our client are seeking a highly motivated and commercially driven Business Development Manager to support the continued growth of their Malta office. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with professional and institutional clients, including banks, asset managers, funds, pension funds, insurance companies, and other financial institutions. The primary objective of the role is to drive new business acquisition and contribute to the growth of revenues and assets under custody across Swissquote Malta’s professional and institutional offering. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development & Growth

Identify, prospect, and acquire new clients, while developing and maintaining a structured pipeline of opportunities

Convert prospects into clients and manage the full sales cycle through to onboarding

Introduce and promote Swissquote Malta’s products and services to institutional and professional clients

Initiate and lead new business meetings, presentations, and negotiations, including closing sales

Leverage existing institutional relationships through proactive and targeted outreach initiatives

Develop and maintain a referral network and support the organisation of client events to generate new leads

Manage inbound enquiries from multiple channels (e.g. LinkedIn, website, internal referrals, colleagues)

Achieve agreed client acquisition targets (revenue and assets under custody) and monitor sales performance

Maintain accurate and complete client profiles in line with internal compliance and risk management standards

Support the transition from prospect to client by coordinating onboarding with internal support functions

Build strong internal relationships across Operations, Compliance, and other key departments

Collaborate with Marketing to ensure sales materials are up to date, relevant, and effective

Partner with Swissquote Group colleagues (including HQ and international offices) to support cross-border opportunities

Stay up to date with product developments and act as a trusted advisor to clients and prospects

Prepare management information reports for senior management, including sales performance analysis and recommendations

Represent the company at industry conferences, events, and client meetings
Relationship Management

Build long-term, trusted relationships with institutional clients, positioning Swissquote as a best-in-class B2B partner in the EU financial services space

Adopt a client-centric approach, anticipating client needs beyond contracted services

Identify cross-selling opportunities across Swissquote’s product and service offering

Ensure high-quality client servicing and contribute to continuous improvement of client experience

Support and contribute to strategic initiatives across business lines as required

Promote Swissquote’s brand as a reliable, innovative, and regulated institutional partner
CANDIDATE PROFILE
-
2–6 years of experience in institutional sales within a bank, broker, or financial institution

Proven experience in client acquisition and relationship management
-
Strong understanding of financial markets, investment products, and institutional client needs

Knowledge of brokerage, FX, derivatives, and credit-related products
-
Familiarity with MiFID and broader EU regulatory frameworks

Understanding of electronic trading platforms (e.g. Bloomberg, Integral, 360T) is an advantage
-
Existing network within Malta and/or relevant international markets is highly desirable

Proven track record in onboarding institutional clients and developing long-term relationships is an asset
