A Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF) regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) is seeking an experienced Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and AML Compliance Officer (AMLCO) to join their Nicosia team and lead and oversee the Company’s Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering Functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the CIF fully complies with all applicable European and CySEC regulatory requirements, including but not limited to MiFID II, Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR), Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), the Prevention and Suppression of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Law, as well as other relevant EU regulations, CySEC directives, and circulars. The CCO/AMLCO will serve as the Compliance Appointed Person approved by CySEC and the designated AML Compliance Officer, ensuring the effective and independent operation of both the Compliance and AML Functions in accordance with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, and supervisory expectations.
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance and AML/CFT policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Ensure the Company’s full compliance with MiFID II, MiCAR, DORA, AML/CFT legislation, CySEC directives, circulars, and all other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct company-wide compliance and AML/CFT risk assessments and ensure the implementation of a risk-based approach across all business activities.
  • Oversee client onboarding processes, including KYC, customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), beneficial ownership verification, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely implementation of new legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory and financial crime risks through thematic reviews, compliance monitoring programs, and internal controls testing.
  • Review new business initiatives, products, services, and distribution models to assess regulatory and AML/CFT risks.
  • Monitor transactions and activities (with the Market Surviellance department) to detect suspicious behaviour and ensure timely reporting of suspicious transactions to MOKAS and other competent authorities, where required.
  • Ensure effective sanctions screening, PEP identification, and adverse media monitoring processes are in place and properly documented.
  • Prepare and submit all regulatory and AML reports to CySEC and other authorities, including the Annual Compliance Report and Annual AML Report.
  • Act as the primary liaison with CySEC, MOKAS, auditors, and other external stakeholders on compliance and AML matters.
  • Provide ongoing advice and reporting to the Board of Directors and Senior Management on regulatory obligations, compliance risks, AML exposure, deficiencies, and remediation actions.
  • Design and deliver regular staff training programs covering regulatory compliance, AML/CFT obligations, ethical standards, and conduct of business requirements.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping, documentation, and audit trails in line with regulatory and internal governance standards.
  • Ensure the independence and effective operation of the Compliance and AML Functions, reporting directly to the Board of Directors.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • BSc/MSc in Law, Finance, Economics, or other relevant field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within a Compliance Department in the financial services sector.
  • Holder of CySEC Advanced Certificate.
  • Holder of CySEC AML Certification.
  • Strong knowledge of EU and CySEC regulatory frameworks.
  • Fluency in both Greek and English (written and spoken).
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
