DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide advice on matters related to insurance products, policy wording, coverage, claims, and disputes;
- Offer counsel on corporate governance, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, change in control and restructuring;
- Draft and review appointment agreements, insurance distribution contracts, corporate agreements, and regulatory filings
- Provide support in relation to complex claim handling, coverage disputes and develop strategies to mitigate potential legal exposure;
- Draft legal opinions, memoranda, and due diligence reports;
- Ensure clients comply with the applicable regulatory requirements;
- Company formation and continuation of companies to and from Malta;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, insurers, brokers, and regulators;
- Provide training to clients and colleagues on insurance law, corporate law, and compliance matters;
- Stay updated on industry trends and legal developments, sharing insights with the firm;
- Other general corporate and insurance law matters.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Possess a Law degree and warrant to practice as an advocate in Malta
- Experience in (re)insurance organisations
- Have good written and verbal communication skills in English and Maltese
- Have at least 3 years’ experience in insurance and corporate law
- Be pro-active, a team player and able to work against tight deadlines; and
- Be willing to undergo continued professional development and training.
