A fantastic opportunity has arisen within a leading insurance company in Malta as Data Engineer / Data Analyst. You will be working on a variety of solutions from both local and multi-national suppliers as well as the Data and Analytics Department at the Head Office in Spain. The ideal candidate will have a degree or higher in Computer Science or related field and strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organise and analyse data (Python, R or SQL an asset). MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute to the design and creation of an optimal data pipeline architecture

Contribute to the collation of large, complex data sets that meet business requirements

Contributes in the optimization of data delivery and re-design of infrastructure for greater scalability

Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics

Research and properly evaluate sources of information to determine possible limitations in reliability or usability
-
Apply sampling techniques to effectively determine and define ideal categories to be questioned

Define and utilize statistical methods to solve industry-specific problems in varying fields, such as economics and engineering

Prepare detailed reports for management and other departments by analysing and interpreting data

Design, develop and implement business forms when necessary

Design computer code using various languages to improve and update software and applications
-
Refer to previous instances and findings to determine the ideal method for gathering data
CANDIDATE PROFILE
-
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field required;
-
One to three years of information systems experience preferred.

Strong mathematical skills to help collect, measure, organise and analyse data
-
Knowledge of PL/SQL, R and Python would be an asset
-
Knowledge of insurance and finance would be considered an asset
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
