Our reputable gaming company is seeking a dedicated Due Diligence Specialist in Malta. The ideal candidate will support the Due Diligence team within the Company by providing specialist technical expertise, particularly in complex, high risk, or sensitive cases arising from onboarding and ongoing monitoring activities. The role focuses on supporting the effective assessment and escalation of complex due diligence matters, including ownership and control structures, source of wealth considerations, and adverse media findings, ensuring that such matters are addressed in a structured and proportionate manner. The Due Diligence Specialist acts as an additional technical and investigative resource, supporting the Due Diligence team in maintaining an effective, proportionate, and risk based due diligence framework. In parallel, the role contributes to the continuous enhancement of the team by supporting process development, methodological improvements, technical knowledge sharing, and by assisting the management of the department in shaping strategic direction, planning, and technical capability within the Due Diligence team. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide specialist technical and investigative support to the Due Diligence team in relation to complex, high-risk, or sensitive onboarding and ongoing monitoring cases, ensuring assessments are thorough, proportionate, and well-reasoned
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead the review of complex Source of Wealth and Source of Funds cases, particularly where:
  • The declared net worth is significant
  • Wealth accumulation is complex or opaque, or
  • Additional investigative assessment and judgement are required.
  • Undertake detailed analysis of complex due diligence matters, including:
  • Ownership and control structures
  • Adverse media, allegations, and reputational considerations, where enhanced scrutiny or specialist technical input is necessary
  • Lead and support the assessment of complex or sensitive adverse media and screening findings relating to applicants and existing licensees, ensuring a consistent, structured, and risk-based approach to the handling and escalation of such findings
  • Prepare comprehensive due diligence memoranda, technical reports, and escalation notes for submission to the relevant internal committees
  • Support the presentation and explanation of complex Source of Wealth, adverse media, and other high risk due diligence cases at committee level, as required
  • Act as a technical point of reference for the Due Diligence team on complex due diligence matters, including Source of Wealth assessments and adverse media handling, providing guidance and challenge to support consistency and quality across the team
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of due diligence processes, methodologies, and internal practices
  • Assist the management of the department in planning, strategic initiatives, and the ongoing development of the Due Diligence team’s technical capability and approach
  • Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and professional forums to remain informed of emerging risks, trends, and best practices, and provide targeted technical knowledge sharing and training to the Due Diligence team where appropriate.  Carry out any other duties related to the role as may be reasonably assigned by management in support of the objectives of the Authorisations & Due Diligence Department and the Authority
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  •  In possession of a Degree (MQF Level 6 or equivalent). Candidates in possession of a Diploma (MQF Level 5 or equivalent) will be considered if accompanied by at least five (5) years of relevant experience
  • Proven experience in due diligence, investigations, financial crime, regulatory compliance, or a comparable risk based environment, with excellent analytical and investigative skills, including the ability to assess complex, incomplete, or conflicting information and exercise sound professional judgement in a risk based manner
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex Source of Wealth and Source of Funds cases, ownership and control structures, and adverse media findings, and to exercise sound professional judgement in ambiguous or sensitive scenarios
  • Excellent analytical and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, structured, and committee ready memoranda setting out findings, risks, and reasoned recommendationS
  • Be highly motivated, well presented, and possess good communication skills.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
  • €37,000 – €39,000 Gross Per Annum
