On behalf of our reputable client in the insurance sector in Malta, GRS Recruitment are seeking a Finance and Investment Analyst. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and processing the day-to-day activities of the Company’s Investments for non-life and life portfolios. The Finance and Investment Analyst will work with Management, Head of Finance and their team to manage the Investment Portfolio for life and non-life under the direction and terms of reference of the Investment Committee. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITLIES
- Perform on-going administration duties of all investment files. Ensure that financial transactions are registered and processed accurately, performed within prescribed timelines and that each transaction is reconciled according to regulatory and internal control requirements.
- Monitor investment portfolios under management with third parties and keep them in line with contractual agreement parameters. Report variances and strategy breaches. Produce end of month reporting for same.
- Monitor investment strategy and immediately report any important announcements to Management for reporting activities to Investment Committee members.
- Research on investment opportunities in assets for new investment opportunities and for monitoring/comparison purpose on existing investments. Write clear and well-informed investment recommendations based on thorough research and analysis.
- Perform daily portfolio analytics to measure performance and interest rate risk trends and views. Report on any matters that may affect the company’s portfolio at internal meetings.
- Assist to perform ad-hoc/deep-dive analysis in support of investment decision making.
- Organize monthly investment reports and reviews, including quantitative and qualitative portfolio studies.
- Work with Management to interact with other Departments, internal and external auditors, actuaries, outsourced portfolio managers and third-party valuation resources in support of the investment valuation process. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining adequate documentation on the valuation process flow, inputs utilized and the preparation of a recurring valuation validation review.
- Obtain a good knowledgeable base for the investment aspect of Solvency II for the monitoring of the market; interest rate, equity and concentration risk section of reporting.
- Work with the investment system to monitor the Company’s assets for trends in the movements of the investment portfolio the day-to-day administration for monthly and adhoc investment reporting and Solvency II compliance regulatory environment.
- Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Attend Investment Committee meetings as and when requested, review and remain up to date with any important valuation or policy changes.
- Be involved in developing automated systems for fast and accurate transaction processing. Review the entire process and initiate process improvements.
- Financial duties for the preparation of monthly and quarterly regulatory report.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Relevant qualifications in finance, investments, or a related field.
- A good understanding of the Insurance Industry.
- Proven experience in investment analysis, ideally within insurance or pension fund sectors.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and asset management.
- Demonstrate the ability to design and execute strategy, whilst getting the best possible performance under the Investment Committee guidelines.
- Challenging approach, proactively identifying improvement needs and driving improvements.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels and ability to influence and engage internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuously seek self-improvement by keeping updated and/or attending appropriate external conferences/trainings or studying for professional qualification.
- Keep up to date with market development and regulation.
