On behalf of our client, an international group of companies operating within the aviation sector, headquartered in Malta and experiencing significant growth is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead the finance operations of one of its financial entities in Malta. The entity handles a high volume of multi-currency international and intercompany transactions in a fast-paced environment. You will lead a team of around 10, including fully qualified, warranted Senior Accountants, and take full ownership of the function.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, manage and develop a finance team of around 10, including fully qualified, warranted Senior Accountants.
- Manage all financial activities in line with Group policies and local legislation, covering revenue, receivables, payables, cash and banking, general ledger, payments, cash flow management, taxation and financial reporting.
- Oversee the accurate processing and reconciliation of high-volume, multi-currency international and intercompany transactions.
- Own the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting cycle, ensuring accurate and timely submissions to Head Office for Group reporting.
- Lead credit control and creditor management, proactively managing credit risk, debt recovery and payments within agreed terms.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors to support smooth audits and ensure timely remediation of findings.
- Ensure compliance with local tax obligations, including VAT and corporate tax, as well as registration and reporting to local government bodies.
- Review financial systems and procedures, working with Group Finance to recommend improvements and automation opportunities.
- Provide financial insight and analysis to support senior management decision-making.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- University degree in Accounting or ACCA qualification.
- Minimum 6 years' experience in a similar role in Malta, including demonstrable people management experience.
- Essential: experience in a multi-currency, multi-entity environment.
- Proven track record leading a finance team across multiple levels, including qualified accountants.
- Experience managing high-volume international and intercompany transactions within a group structure.
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS.
- Good knowledge of local and cross-border VAT and tax legislation, and Maltese statutory reporting requirements.
- Strong expertise in consolidation and performance management.
- Proficiency with ERP and reporting systems such as SAP, Oracle or Hyperion, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- An assertive, energetic leader, able to drive a busy team and take ownership from day one.
- Experience within the aviation sector in Malta.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- €85,000 - 95,000 Gross Per Annum
