An international Cruise Shipping company is working with GRS to recruit a Financial Controller in Malta. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of month end financial results and yearly financial statements for their river and ocean operations. You will report to the Head of Accounting and be responsible for a team of between 15 and 20 people, having 2 team members reporting directly to you. The ideal candidate will be ACCA qualified and have 5 years’ Accounting experience, ideally with an operations background. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Review month end results prepared by the Accountants and report results to Head Office

Assist the team with VAT matters relating to a few EU jurisdictions where they operate

Prepare VAT recons and VAT submissions

Assist with local and foreign tax matters

Set up new Accounting ERP system and interface with operating systems

Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts

Prepare workings for Transfer Pricing agreements that are already in place

Lead a team of 2 Accountants who are managing a team of juniors

Approve weekly payment run

Review and improve on processes and procedures that are in place

Assist with year-end audits for 4 operating companies and assist with the statutory reporting

Assist the team with year-end B/S reconciliations

Any other reporting as required by the Group

Coordinate with the vessel management teams onboard and at Head Office
CANDIDATE PROFILE
-
Fully qualified accountant with 5 years+ experience in accounting preferably with an operations
-
background

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work independently and be result-driven

Ability to lead and manage a team

Highly motivated, flexible and with a positive and ‘can do’ attitude

Willing to travel 3 or 4 times a year

Proficiency with Microsoft Office in particular MS Excel
