A long-standing company operating in the Shipping, Logistics and Marine sectors with offices across Cyprus, is working in partnership with GRS Recruitment to hire a Financial Controller for their Limassol based offices. The successful candidate will be responsible for all the financial transactions of the Group, the preparation of financial reports to management to facilitate the decision making, deal with the implementation and monitoring of financial controls and procedures, adherence to policies, legal requirements and to the international financial reporting standards. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure that all company financial transactions are in compliance with the anti-corruption, anti-bribery and anti-money laundering policies and to report any suspicious transactions to the management.
  • Monitor the financial position and risk exposure of the companies and to timely raise any red flags to management.
  • Increase financial security by establishing internal controls.
  • Establish and implement procedures to ensure efficiency, professionalism, accurate records and reduction of financial risks.
  • Analyse financial data and prepare financial reports for management to facilitate decision making.
  • Oversee that all reporting requirements and deadlines, both internal and external, are met.
  • Ensure compliance with government and tax requirements.
  • Participate in building Company strategy and suggest measures to reduce costs and increase profitability.
  • Monitor agreements with customers, associates and banks and manage financial transactions.
  • Ensure all purchases of fixed assets and services are in compliance with Company procedures.
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and oversee their applicability.
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and accounts receivable are collected promptly.
  • Take measures to enhance the company’s cashflow and liquidity position.
  • Implement cost reduction measures and monitor bank charges.
  • Develop plans and assess opportunities for financial growth.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Implement, monitor and review KPIs on a monthly basis.
  • Investigate any non-compliance with documented procedures and perform small internal audits to ensure that the department’s procedures are being followed.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Holder of University degree in Accounting or in any other related field
  • ACCA, ACA, or CAT qualification.
  • At least 7 years of previous working experience in a related field
  • Excellent command of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency In Greek and English, both written and verbal
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in leading group conversations.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines.
